Holders of the BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Construction and The Built Environment (Building Services Engineering – Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning pathway) will have developed a sound understanding of the principles in their ‘specialist pathway’ of study and will have learned to apply those principles more widely.
They will have developed the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue a career as a Building Services Engineering Technician, Electrical System Designer/Installer or a Lighting System Designer/Installer.
They will have learned to evaluate the appropriateness of different approaches to solving problems. They will be able to perform effectively in their chosen field and will have the qualities necessary for employment in situations requiring the exercise of personal responsibility and decision-making.
Modules included are subject to change but typically students will study 15 modules: Mathematics for Construction; Principles of Heating Services Design & Installation; Principles of Ventilation and Air Conditioning Design & Installation; Building Information Modelling; Group Project; Further Mathematics for Construction; Building Management Systems; Advanced Electrical Design & Installation; Alternative Methods of Construction; Environmental Assessment & Monitoring and Alternative Energy Systems Design & Installation.
This course is assignment based and includes practical assessment activities.
