This programme is delivered over 2 years full time with the first year being a Higher National Certificate (HNC) providing progression to the second year to complete the full Higher National Diploma (HND). The content is designed to equip you with the knowledge, understanding and skills required for success in current and future employment in the field of business. Through a range of practical and theoretical curriculum, students will develop a broad-based overview of business acquiring wide ranging skills and knowledge.
The programme has been developed to meet the needs of employers looking for graduates with the practical skills, knowledge and experience to make them of immediate value in the workplace.
Students who complete the HND in Business have the opportunity to branch out in a range of fields depending on their area of interest and chosen pathway. Previous students have found careers in the following areas;
Retail management / Human resources / Further education teaching / Marketing – social media management / Accounts management / Corporate sales
It is important to recognise that the skills acquired on the programme also allow graduates to set up their own enterprise, fully embracing their potential through self-employment and entrepreneurship.
This programme is modular and coursework based. Most units will be assessed by a mixture of coursework which may include essays, portfolios and presentations as well as some more practical assessment.
Teaching methods include formal lectures, practical sessions and role plays with some units supported by guest speakers.
