The course is aimed at those wishing to further their studies in accounting and who may wish to prepare for a career as a professional accountant. The programme will also develop the skills and competencies required to undertake independent research in the areas of accounting and related areas.

Applicants require an Honours degree (2.2 or higher) with accounting constituting a major part; those who have made timely progress in their professional examinations may also be considered. It is expected that all candidates will have full CAP1 exemptions from Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI).
