This is a qualification for established construction personnel who wish to upgrade their skills and knowledge possibly with a view to preparation for promotion, additional responsibilities in work or a change of career focus. The qualification may also be appropriate for those with some knowledge and experience in construction on a supervisory basis but who wish to train for a career that requires graduate-level qualifications.
All units are compulsory and are worth a specified number of credits. These enable you to cover key subject knowledge whilst developing your own interests. You must take units worth a total of 120 credits. The units available on the course are as follows: Management for Complex Buildings; Group Project (double unit); Contracts and Management; Alternative Methods of Construction; Personal Professional Development; Transport Systems in Buildings and Project Management
The course provides you with opportunities to test your understanding of the subject informally before you complete the formal assessments that count towards your final mark. Each unit normally contains a least one piece of assessment at the end of each unit for which you will receive feedback from your tutor. Assessment methods include a range of coursework assessments such as essays, reports, portfolios, presentations, group work, practical work and project work.
