Based within our Faculty of Science and Technology, our microbiology research has an applied focus with real-world impact. Experienced and research-active staff work in close collaboration with the bio-industry, NHS and other research institutions within the UK, Europe and the US. Our research areas include: Cell biology, which focuses on the way cells adapt, survive and differentiate in response to physiological and pathophysiological stimuli.
Diagnostics and therapeutics, which focuses on the detection of disease and pathogens, genomics and epidemiology. The aim being to identify patients who may benefit ahead of a therapy, thereby improving cost and clinical effectiveness of drugs.
