Blackpool and the Fylde College has opted into the TEF and received a Gold award.
The Physical Activity, Nutrition & Health Degree (Top Up) was designed in response to industry feedback in relation to the low number of graduates qualified to work across the increasingly holistic area of health improvement. This programme incorporates three clear strands; health, nutrition and physical activity, which were highlighted as a public health key focus by the Government and are the pre-requisite areas for graduates to possess when looking to develop a career in the area of health improvement. The health elements provide students with the underpinning concepts of health from differing perspectives combining elements of social care and physical education with sociology and health studies. The nutrition strand focuses on the provision of a knowledge base that graduates will increasingly be dependent on the need for those working in health improvement to have a firm understanding of the application and impact of nutrition on both individual and community health.
