The Foundation Degree in Care Studies is a two-year, full-time Higher Education course designed to provide students with the opportunity to study a range of healthcare disciplines and builds an appropriate academic foundation and relevance in each subject area. The programme enables students to develop a range of graduate and expected employability skills which transfer to the world of work. The requisite work placement element of the programme gives opportunities for students to acquire practical skills and professional values within the diverse field of practice.
A number of our FdSc Care Studies graduates improve current career pathways (H&SC) whilst others may progress into further training or undertake professional qualification. Career routes are diverse as a progression from this programme, most graduates go on to pursue traditional care options, though the course is not limiting in this respect. Alternative career considerations are promoted through the college careers advice centre and links with the wider industrial provision, e.g. Police force, 3rd Sector, Youth services, Rehabilitation teams, Environmental health, Public health.

Psycho - Sociological perspectives on Health and Wellbeing
Research in the wider Health and Social care arena

Impact of an Aging Population
You will usually have to complete portfolios, oral and poster presentations and written assignments as you progress through the programme.
