This course is suitable for those in Healthcare Leadership to Doctors, Pharmacists, Allied Health Professionals, Nursing and Midwifery Registrants and Non Clinical staff who are postgraduate and have responsibility for the leadership and management in a range of health service settings, or wish to advance into a leadership role. Students will be able to study to fit in with their busy workloads. Materials will be accessible through Distance Learning, Online Classroom and Face-to-Face delivery with one to one tutor support. Students will be supported to access a single or blended learning approach, which best suits their learning style and needs. Students will be required to complete on average 40 hours of study per week if studying the programme full time to meet and achieve the theoretical requirements of the programme and assessment. However, this can be extended if required to meet student and/or organisation needs; for example a 104 week plan will require 20 hours of study per week. It is recognised that the healthcare services are undergoing significant change and development. It is important that those in positions of responsibility are equipped with the knowledge and skills to effectively fulfill their roles.
Modules include: Exploring the key elements in Healthcare Leadership (60 credits), Evidence-Based & Evidence-Informed Leadership Practice (60 credits), Dissertation (60 credits), Exploring the key elements in Healthcare Leadership (60 credits) and Evidence-Based & Evidence-Informed Leadership Practice (60 credits)
Assessment methods include: 5000 word Service Innovation and Improvement Project, 20 minute PowerPoint presentation, 3500 word reflection, 5000 word structured research protocol, 10,000-15,000 word dissertation
To be admitted to the programme candidates must have:
Completed a First Degree – this may not be health related but demonstrates the candidates ability to successfully complete academic Level 6 study
Completed a Post Graduate Degree - this may not be health related but demonstrates the candidates ability to successfully complete academic Level 6 study
Completed a First Professional qualification with a Portfolio of CPD evidence, which will be considered at the discretion of the Programme Leader.
For students who are non-native users of English:
Provide evidence of instruction and assessment predominantly in English throughout education
Provide evidence of a recent IELTS or equivalent score of 7.0 overall, with a minimum of 6.5 for each component.
