Biochemistry explores chemical processes within and related to living organisms. It is a laboratory based science that brings together biology and chemistry. The University of Dundee is recognised internationally as one of the leading centres for biochemical research, including areas such as cell signalling, cell and developmental biology, cell division, diabetes and cancer research.

Our teaching is research-led, meaning that the degree programmes benefit from association with research of international standard and its commercial and biomedical applications, and from the active participation of many leading scientists in the field.

A level ABB - AAB Subjects should include A-Level biology and chemistry, plus GCSE mathematics at C
Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) BTEC Extended Diploma can be considered for our Foundation Year in Life Sciences.
Scottish Higher ABBB - AABB Subjects should include Higher biology and chemistry, plus mathematics (Standard Grade at 3 or National 5/Intermediate2 at C)
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme 30 points IB Diploma at Higher Level grades 5, 5, 5 to include biology and chemistry, plus Standard Level mathematics at grade 4.
A combination of IB Certificate plus other qualifications, such as A-Levels, Advanced Placement Tests or the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP), will also be considered.
