ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE
The BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance degree at Newman provides you with the skills, knowledge and resources relevant for a wide range of enterprises in the private and public sectors.
In the first year, the solid foundation for future study will be laid where you will gain an understanding of accounting and finance. You will also study important business issues such as business law, business environment and business economics.
Graduates from this course may gain exemptions from the professional Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualifications and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the Chartered Institute of Public Finance, Accountants (CIPFA) examinations and ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales).
The programme will give you the skills and knowledge that you need to succeed in the future. Graduates from Accounting and Finance are highly sought after and are able to use their skills and knowledge in a wide range of different areas. As a graduate of Accounting and Finance, there are opportunities to work in the public and private sector in areas such as financial and management accounting, auditing and management.
We teach with a particular emphasis on ethics and strong leadership, and how they work within business; you will understand the impact of decisions made and how they contribute to the long term success of an organisation.
You are presented with opportunities to experience the international business marketplace by way of international field trips and access to the Erasmus programme.
Courses are structured with the requirements of professional organisations in mind – this makes it more practical for you to attain future professional memberships in their particular areas of interest.
- You will be taught by a department which not only understands the theoretical aspects of business and its associated subjects, but also encourages students in their practical applications and prepares students for various professional roles.
We place a strong emphasis on preparing students for professional employment. Many students begin their course with an interest in the world of business but may be unsure of where they can fit in and make a positive impact. Graduates go on to work within various fields of the business world including: management, accounting, finance, entrepreneurship, marketing and economics.
