University of Southampton has opted into the TEF and received a Silver award.
This programme will provide you with a first-rate grounding in mathematics as well as a solid finance background and strong quantitative skills, making you highly employable. The mathematics component provides a firm foundation in the main areas of mathematics and develops your skills in statistical theory and analysis. The finance component will give you a solid grounding in micro- and macro-economics, and focuses on portfolio analysis, international banking and futures and options.
In year one you will study micro and macro-economics and take the five core mathematics modules. In subsequent years you will have the opportunity to learn about statistics, economics, financial markets and international banking as well as mathematics topics. You can choose from a range of interdisciplinary modules in year three.
You will be assessed in a variety of ways such as coursework, tests and exams, enabling you to demonstrate your strengths and show what you have learnt.

AQA Tech Levels: The University accepts the new AQA Tech Level qualification, which must be offered in combination with at least one A Level. For degrees in Engineering, Computing and related subjects, the A Level must be in Mathematics and the units M1 and M2 must be taken.
We welcome applicants with other qualifications eg. European Baccalaureate, Foundation Programmes. You will be expected to attain an equivalent standard to the A level applicant.
