About the course

Our accredited Accounting and Finance degree helps you achieve professional status faster. You’ll benefit from the latest industry knowledge combined with the practical skills to launch your career.

On this course you develop the knowledge needed for a successful career as well as professional membership of the accounting profession. You learn about the risks and interdependencies of the modern global economy. And you’ll gain practical skills through real-world problem-solving exercises. This includes trading-floor simulations, using real-time data from the Bloomberg Professional service platform.

You’ll benefit from a solid grounding in the principles of business before focussing on corporate finance, financial institutions and markets, as well as more specific aspects of corporate and managerial accounting.

This degree also offers a wide range of options including leadership, entrepreneurship and law, so you can broaden your knowledge to boost your employability. You can also enrich your degree by spending time in the workplace or studying abroad.

Qualification Offer Further information
A level ABB - AAB You must have GCSE (or equivalent) Mathematics, with at least grade 6 (or grade B).

We will also consider applicants with GCSE Mathematics with grade 5 where you are taking an A-level in Accounting, Business, Chemistry, Economics, Mathematics, Physics or Psychology.

You should also have a broad range of GCSEs grade 9-4 (A*-C), including good grades in relevant subjects.
Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) DDD The BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma would normally be in Business.

You must have GCSE (or equivalent) Mathematics, with at least grade 6 (or grade B).

You should also have a good range of GCSEs 9-5 (5 A*-B), including good grades in relevant subjects.
Access to HE Diploma Pass Diploma with at least 39 level 3 credits at Merit or above including 24-27 credits at Distinction.

The Access to HE Diploma would preferably be in Business Studies or include a Business pathway.

You must have GCSE (or equivalent) Mathematics, with at least grade 6 (or grade B).
Scottish Higher AABBB - AAABB You will need Scottish National 5 in Mathematics at grade B.

If you are taking Advanced Highers we would normally expect you to have at least BBB.
Extended Project We take the EPQ into account when considering your application and it can be useful in the summer when your results are released if you have narrowly missed the conditions of your offer. We do not routinely include the EPQ in the conditions of your offer but we sometimes offer alternative conditions that include the EPQ.
