Course summary

This four-year MEng Computer Science with Cyber Security includes the core learning of the BSc Computer Science programmes and provides the professional skills, knowledge and understanding that underpin computer science, enabling you to work in any area of the computing industry. You will then have the opportunity to specialise and gain a greater understanding of the latest thinking in cyber security, including the concepts, principles, technologies and practices for addressing current and emerging cyber security threats and challenges. Key areas of study include: criminology, risk management, law and social sciences. Outstanding facilities and renowned teaching staff will prepare you for work in a wide variety of areas and fields. Modules

This four-year programme has been designed to maximise student choice by allowing you to tailor the degree structure to suit your own interests. During the first two years you will undertake a series of core modules, for example Programming, Computer Systems, and Mathematics. In your third year you can choose from a wide range of optional modules that reflect the specialist areas and key technologies of computer science that will be critical in the future. You will also work on an individual project with the potential to explore cutting edge technologies and innovative applications. The fourth year particularly emphasises engineering design, management and industrial collaboration. You will take part in a group design project, working with a real industry customer or solving challenging problems through the imaginative application of technology. Assessment method

A range of assessment methods are used on this programme to enable students to demonstrate their achievement of the intended learning outcomes. These include written examinations and assessments, in-class tests, design exercises, programming exercises, oral presentations, assessed laboratories and group work exercises.
