Course summary

Why MEng Mechatronics Engineering? Our MEng Mechatronics Engineering course offers you the chance to learn at Levels 4-6 (equivalent to a BEng degree) as well as Level 7 (equivalent to a Master’s degree) within one integrated course. You’ll benefit from up-to-date knowledge of theoretical and practical aspects of mechatronics systems, with an emphasis on implementation of the design and development of mechatronics systems. Covering topics such as robotics engineering, design of electrical machines, smart sensors, competitive and reliability engineering, applied artificial intelligence and creative and innovative product design, you’ll also complete an advanced research project. The course therefore provides excellent preparation for those wishing to continue their studies at doctoral level. There is a strong emphasis on practical industrial applications and you’ll be able to gain hand-on experience, experimenting in our specialist labs and utilising our industry links to work with local firms such as ABB, MOOG, SC Group, Spirax Sarco, Dowty Propeller, Kohler Mira and Total Metal Products Ltd. You’ll also gain practical experience in project management and work with engineers from a range of different backgrounds. The multi-disciplinary approach of the course will help you develop technical and creative skills essential for success in a variety of roles in modern industry, taking on exciting challenges in engineering systems in the ‘Internet of Things’ era.
