Course summary
Our Drama degree offers a diverse and dynamic programme of study that equips you for roles in professional drama, theatre, and a range of other employment settings. The curriculum is structured around three main components: Theatre History and Critical Theory, Directed Theatre Productions, and Devising and Creation of Performance. With a student-centred approach, the programme empowers you to take charge of your learning, emphasising the creation of original creative works. Practical theatre production lies at the core of this degree, ensuring hands-on experience. Off-campus opportunities provide exposure to professional spaces, fostering collaboration with seasoned theatre professionals in venues like Birmingham REP, MAC Birmingham, and The Crescent Theatre. The opportunity to complete an independent project also grants you the flexibility to explore and research a chosen performance area, whether it’s practical, theoretical, historical, or a blend of these, allowing for a comprehensive and tailored educational experience.
