Course summary

You want a solid foundation in business, a place to launch your career from when the time is right. Our full-time Business Management course is made for you. Based in Cambridge, you’ll interact with businesses and get inspired by guest speakers. Plus there’s the chance to take a placement year in industry. Our partnership with the Chartered Management Institute gives you advanced management training and a competitive advantage that will make you stand out from the crowd. Employers look for business graduates with a range of solid, relatable skills, like you. Our Business Management degree combines knowledge and awareness of current issues such as globalisation, sustainability and social change, meaning you'll understand the factors affecting businesses. Study with us and by exploiting our links with businesses in the rapidly growing Cambridge and wider area, you can build on your network for when you graduate. And when you do graduate, it will be with a sound appreciation of management practice, including human resources, marketing, accounting and finance, and information management. By using mock interviews to grow your confidence and help you figure out how to approach the job market, you'll be developing the interpersonal skills demanded by employers The advanced management training with professional accreditation, through the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) is essential for its considerable competitive advantage and effective route to a real career. The cost of your membership to the CMI whilst you are studying with us is included in your annual course fees. On graduating, you can continue this membership from £145 per year with the CMI directly.

Modules

Level 4 modules: Introduction to Financial Analysis and Management, Global Business Environment and International Strategy, Business Law, Digital Business and Principles of Marketing, Organisational Behaviour. Level 5 modules: The Entrepreneurial Journey, Project Management and Implementation. Level 5 optional modules - Cambridge: Business Innovation, Understanding the Consumer, Developing Professional Practice and Using Information in HR. Level 5 optional modules - Chelmsford: Financial Management, Foundations of Leadership Studies, Applied Leadership and Communication. Level 6 modules: Strategic Management, Sustainability and Responsible Business, Undergraduate Major Project. Level 6 optional modules: International Intercultural Management. Level 6 optional modules - Cambridge: The Reflective and Empathetic Entrepreneur, Marketing Communications, Employment Law and Relations. Level 6 optional modules - Chelmsford: Contemporary Issues in Leadership and Management.

Assessment method

You can expect an interesting mix of coursework, essays, exams and activity-based assignments. Your coursework could include problem-solving activities, consultancy projects, presentations and group or individual reports. You'll also be able to access support materials supported by materials accessed through our learning management system (Canvas). All assessment is designed to allow you to demonstrate what you’ve learned, and to make sure you’re developing the knowledge and skills you need to complete the course. This is a 3 year programme (or 4 years with placement) Alongside your core modules you will pick a number of optional modules. Please note that modules are subject to change and availability.
