Primary instrument/specialism
- Conducting (Choral)
The application deadline for this course is 8 January 2024. The Academy's distinctive postgraduate Choral Conducting course, under the direction of Patrick Russill, embraces a comprehensive range of sacred music for concert and service plus selected secular repertoire. It is the UK’s longest-established specialist postgraduate choral conducting course, founded in 1997. We equip students with the necessary skills to become leaders of choirs all around the world. Choosing to study in the centre of London, at the heart of the diverse British choral tradition, provides an unrivalled learning environment. The PGCert is designed as an option for postgraduate students who cannot meet the academic entry requirements for the MA. You are provided with the full range of MA tuition. If you meet the learning outcomes of the MA you will gain that award.
During the application and audition process, you must select which instrument(s) you wish to specialise in for the duration of your course. On this course, you can choose from the following options:
Only one specialism is studied. It may be possible to study a further instrument, but this will not contribute towards the qualification.
For all courses, you must select at least one specialism from the 'primary' list. For those studying primary/secondary pathways, two instruments may be selected – one from the 'primary' list and one from the 'secondary' list. Joint pathway students may select any two instruments from either list.
