Course summary
Our MSc Management courses will help you shape your leadership and management skills to become an effective 21st century manager, able to operate in dynamic and complex organisational environments. You’ll gain an excellent understanding of the core subjects, enabling you to put to theory and contemporary thinking into practice. The MSc Management award offers a generalist course which develops a critical understanding of the central principles of management. You will engage with topical and emerging management concerns, including managing and leading projects and organisations across cultures. You will also explore innovation and entrepreneurial thinking, and refine your critical understanding of management theory. The unique selling points for this course are personalisation, application of learning into real world practice, an opportunity to take part in an International Experience overseas, and studying Responsible and Sustainable Management. In your third semester, you’ll choose an experiential project. With the opportunity to use your skills in a real-world setting, you can choose from completing a consultancy experience project, an in-company experience project or a business research project. Designed for aspiring leaders, this degree is aimed at students with either no background in business and management who want to develop a career in this field, or those who have a qualification in business and management but want to become more competitive and progress their careers. This course has been awarded Dual Award status with the Chartered Management Institute, which means you can graduate with a Masters degree and a CMI Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership. Modules
In Semester 1 you'll study the modules Principles of Management; Managing in Organisations and Context of Management. In Semester 2 you'll study International Human Resource Management; Managing Innovation through Creativity, Ingenuity and Entrepreneurial Learning and Contemporary Issues in Management. In Semester 3 you'll complete a major project such as the Consultancy Experience Project; Internship Experience Project or Business Research Project. Throughout the year you'll study the modules Transformational Leadership Development, Research Methods for Managers and Placement Diploma in Industrial Experience (2 year course only).
Assessment method
A range of assessment methods are used across the course, the choice of which reflects the needs and demands of the different types of module. Some modules will assess the ability to work collaboratively in a team and others will assess individual capability. Types of assessment will range from examinations to group presentations including essays, reports, financial analyses, literature reviews and research based projects.

Entry requirements
You will need an undergraduate degree equivalent to a UK undergraduate honours degree (2.2 or above). One academic reference is required. If English is not your first language you need to show us that your language skills are strong enough for intensive academic study. We usually ask for an IELTS test and we accept some alternative English language tests. For a 1-year Masters you'll need a 6.5 grade overall with minimum of 5.5 in each component. For a 2-year Masters you'll need a 6.5 grade overall with a minimum of 6.0 in speaking and listening, and 5.5 in reading and writing.
