Critically analyse the challenges faced by urban areas in designing sustainable, inclusive, and healthy urban environments, evaluating the effectiveness of various mitigation strategies and policies. High quality planning and design are at the heart of transforming our cities to meet our future needs. Students taking this programme will be at the cutting edge of this transition toward a more sustainable and healthy planet. This course is aimed at people who want to make a difference to the world they live in, learning about international best practice, while building practical skills in research and design to tackle complex problems.

Modules
Modules include Dissertation for Urban Planning and Design, Introduction to Spatial Planning, Sustainable Places Studio and Sustainable Cities.
Assessment method
The programme is taught through a mixture of traditional lectures, group seminars, studio sessions, fieldwork and opportunities for original research. This includes: Two 20 credit modules in each of Semester 1 and 2 A 40 credit studio module takes place in Semester 1 and 2 A 60 credit project module which runs across the whole year
