Course summary
BA(Hons) Interior Design teaches you the skills you need to take up employment in the interior design industry. This is a technical learning programme, with a focus on lighting, heating, ventilation and acoustics. You’ll work with traditional tools and the latest technology and examine the principles underlying space, detailing, finish, craft and digital processes. Our exceptional facilities and resources include industry standard digital studios and fabrication workshops. Develop your conceptual abilities and technical skills to design for bespoke one-off projects and industrial production. Learn to view spaces differently and seek new design opportunities within them. Build the skills base to transform your vision from concept to reality with a real understanding in materials, details and design theory. Our strong industry links with the thriving city of Bristol and beyond ensure ongoing input from individual designers and established design companies. Attend regular guest lectures and events to help you explore employment opportunities. Past speakers include Arup Lighting, Wylde IA and Amarelle, with technical demonstrations provided by Corian, Egger, Vescom and others. Take on work experience and placements throughout the degree, including international exchange. The course provides excellent preparation for a career in commercial and domestic interiors, retail, leisure, and exhibition design. You could also choose to specialise in furniture, product or lighting design.
