Course summary

This programme is designed to help you develop skills which meet the needs of local, national, and international employers and the populations they serve. Delivered on our Brayford Pool campus by subject experts, content across the course is tailored to a variety of careers, including but not limited to medicine, nursing, pharmacists, allied health, midwives, social workers, social care, and environmental health. A range of optional modules on the course reflect the cross-cutting themes and the contemporary public health landscape. This programme is delivered through a combination of lectures, seminars, workshops, tutorials, directed and independent study, online resources, and our virtual learning environment. This variety gives you the opportunity to collaborate with other students while also developing your own areas of interest and research. Our expert teaching team have a wealth of industry experience or extensive research backgrounds in the field, providing valuable insights into public health. The programme's content focuses on global health, supporting students in investigating professional opportunities, and the final module, Independent Study, allows for you to undertake a project focusing on your home country or a particular field of study. Alongside accessing a range of evidence-based resources on our Virtual Learning Environment, you'll be able to access the wide variety of support services across the University, including our on-campus medical library in the Ross Lucas Medical Sciences Building.


Entry requirements

Undergraduate degree grade 2.2 or equivalent for international students in a relevant subject area - looked at on a case-by-case basis. Applicants without such qualifications will be considered on an individual basis but will be required to demonstrate how their experiences in the multidisciplinary public health territory (e.g. awards, scholarships, work experience - either paid or unpaid) and knowledge and skills would enable them to study this course at master's level in their Personal Statement.
