Course summary
In a world where climate change and urbanisation are increasing how often and how seriously natural hazards occur, millions of lives and livelihoods are being put at risk. Effective disaster risk reduction (DRR) is crucial for sustainable development and increasingly requires proficiency with advanced data analysis tools. There is a growing need for professionals skilled in risk science and digital technologies to address these challenges and minimise risks from natural hazards. Our new MSc in Informatics and Disaster Risk Management at Loughborough equips you with the digital informatics required to pursue emerging opportunities to improve DRR research and practice. You will understand the science of natural hazards and how future disasters can be managed so you can reduce their impact on society. The skills provided in this MSc are highly sought after across the global engineering sector and beyond. This programme is ideal for engineers, environmental scientists and passionate professionals seeking to develop sustainable solutions in the global development, disaster risk and informatics sectors.
