  • animal biology
  • animal care and behaviour
  • chemistry
After successfully completing the preliminary year you'll automatically progress to our five-year Veterinary Medicine and Surgery course.

Modules

During the preliminary year you'll study basic science subjects and mathematics. Biology topics will include body systems, cells structures, biochemistry, health and disease. Chemistry topics will include compounds, reactions, atomic structures and bonding. You'll also have an introduction to animal behaviour and care, as well as practical classes to develop your animal handling skills. This fundamental knowledge will help to prepare you for the main degree programme. You will study a total of six modules in the preliminary year. After successfully completing your preliminary year, you'll automatically join our five-year veterinary medicine and surgery course.
