Course summary

The Public Health and Epidemiology community research themes include a range of areas in public health, such as commercial determinants of health (tobacco, alcohol, unhealthy diet, gambling), global health research and educational research in public health as well as clinical epidemiology (gastrointestinal, respiratory, liver disease, rare diseases) and health psychology. Our research staff have expertise in wide range of approaches for research including primary data collection, large data analysis, qualitative research and evidence synthesis. Our funding portfolio include large grants for public health and epidemiology research at local, national and international level. The NCPHE incorporates the Nottingham Centre for Evidence Based Healthcare, which is an internationally accredited centre of excellence for evidence synthesis. Core research themes/topics include: commercial determinants of health global health place-based public health clinical epidemiology health psychology public health education


Entry requirements

2.2 (or equivalent) degree in a relevant subject and two references including at least one academic reference. If you have contacted a supervisor and they have informally agreed to supervise you, please provide us with a personal statement as part of the online application form. This should cover your reasons for applying, why you are interested in the programme, your previous subject and work experience and your future aspirations. If you have not contacted a supervisor before completing the online application form, please submit a personal statement and a research proposal.
