Our Sports and Exercise BSc will offer you the knowledge, skills and values required to become a confident, competent and analytical sports and exercise scientist of the future. Whatever your aspirations, our Sports and Exercise Science BSc (Study Abroad) will offer you the knowledge and skills to support people to achieve their potential through physical activity. And, by studying abroad in your third year, you will have an opportunity to explore different perspectives on sports and exercise science, while gaining experience of what it is like to live and study in a different country and educational environment. - In Year 1 you will get a grounding in the core disciplines of biomechanics, physiology, psychology, and sports and exercise medicine, alongside topics such as nutrition, digital technologies and data analysis.
- In Year 2 you can begin to tailor your course to suit your interests and career aspirations by choosing to focus more closely on either sports and performance or health and exercise. Both routes will see you gain the skills to capture and analyse psychological, physiological and biomechanical data to better understand human performance and activity at all levels.
- You will spend Year 3 studying at one of our trusted overseas partner universities, immersing yourself in a different culture, meeting new people with diverse perspectives and developing a confident and well-rounded outlook for your final year back in Lancaster.
- In Year 4 you will undertake a research project on a topic of your choice to make a unique contribution to sports and exercise science research. You will also have the opportunity to explore in greater depth the themes in exercise and health or sports that most interest you.

- It’s taught by research and industry experts within Lancaster Medical School and alongside a range of specialists such as Bioscientists , Clinicians, Sports Nutritionists and Public Health Professionals
- You will benefit from the Medical School’s excellent connections with clinicians, practitioners and professionals working in both the health and sports sectors
- You’ll learn to perform clinical processes, such as blood tests and analysis, and to use equipment including electrocardiogram (ECG) readers, glucose and lactate analysis instruments and cortex gas analysers
- You’ll use the Medical School’s state-of-the-art teaching technologies such as Anatomage tables
