Course summary
The professional and post graduate courses are offered as either a full time intensive one year course, or a part time two year course which can be accessed on a pre-service or in-service basis. The course is a combination of practical teaching skills and academic assessment equipping trainees with the skills to enable them to teach across a range of sectors. All of these courses are validated by the University of Hull. Please note: This qualification is not suitable for primary or secondary school teaching.**
Entry requirements
You'll need to have: For the Professional or Postgraduate courses, a degree is required (or equivalent) from a recognised university, usually in the subject specialist field. A placement is required with a guarantee of 100 hours teaching/training within the Lifelong Learning Sector, for the one year course. For the part time course, the requirement is 50 hours per year. Candidates will be required to undergo an initial core competencies assessment. Pre-service Applicants are expected to have some relevant experience of working with people in an educational setting. This is generally done on a voluntary basis before applying for the course. For pre-service students, an enhanced DBS check will be carried out before the trainee enters their placement. For in-service students a copy of a workplace DBS is required.
