The foundation year is an extended course that is not accredited by the NMC, meaning students are not considered registered student nurses and NMC regulations do not apply during this preparatory stage. Upon successful completion of the foundation year, DBS and Occupational Health clearance and passing the faculty interview, you will progress to our NMC-validated Nursing degree course and take the first step towards your career as a registered nurse. ARU College is your pathway to an ARU degree. We provide our students with the support and knowledge you need to excel in your chosen pathway. At ARU College, your foundation year will provide you with a curriculum based on your chosen degree, with small class sizes, 16 contact hours per week and continual feedback to keep you on the right track. The course modules are a combination of subject-focused topics relevant to your chosen course, alongside skill modules that are important building blocks for studying at degree level.

Qualification requirements
5 GCSEs at grade D, or grade 3, or above and evidence of two years post-GCSE study at Level 3. If you have achieved at least grade E in one A level, or equivalent, you are exempt from the two years post-GCSE study requirement, but you still must meet the GCSE requirements. Applicants who do not meet the two years post GCSE study at level 3 may be considered based on their satisfactory employment history, which must be a minimum of two years full time employment supported by employer evidence and deemed appropriate by the University for meeting the course of study applied for. If English is not your first language you will be expected to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 5.5 (Academic level) or equivalent English Language qualification, as recognised by Anglia Ruskin University.
