Course summary
This course will be based at Herefordshire College, Folly Lane Campus. This course will equip students with the community coaching skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to achieve high performance in the UK community coaching environment. It will also provide insight and understanding into the diversity of roles within community coaching, equipping students with an understanding of culturally diverse organisations, cross-cultural issues, diversity and values. The awarding body has worked closely with the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) in developing this programme. The Level 4 programme lays the foundations of learning by providing a specialised introduction to coaching in the UK landscape and different coaching functions. Students will gain a wide range of coaching knowledge linked to practical skills gained through research, independent study, directed study and workplace scenarios. By the end of Level 4, students will have sound knowledge of coaching concepts in the UK and be competent in a range of subject-specific skills and general skills relevant to key areas of Sport and Exercise Science. The Community Coaching for England HTQ is taught by a range of experienced industry professionals and the aim of the course is to develop your theoretical and practical knowledge of Sport and Coaching related subjects. This is designed to equip learners with community coaching skills, knowledge and understanding to progress to subsequent studies in higher education institutions or employment in UK community coaching. You will have the opportunity to undertake an industry placement through our links with a range of sport and active leisure employers. Support is also in place – mentoring services, workshops, and tutorials, to help support you along your journey.
Assessment method
Assessment takes place using a variety of methods including assignments, presentations, projects, and case studies. All students will receive regular feedback on their work and progress from their tutors. The qualification will be graded at pass, merit and distinction.

Qualification requirements
We expect those studying this HTQ to ensure they have a Level 3 in a related subject, as well as GCSE maths and English at a Grade C/4 or above. We welcome interest from mature students who may not have the formal qualifications expected, but a wealth of experience in a related subject.
