Modules

Module 1 Name: Project Planning and Theoretical Perspectives Description: The aims of this module are to enable you to develop your initial Creative Media Major Project ideas into an integrated project and learning plan suitable for your programme. As part of the project plan, you will establish the theoretical framework, aims and methodology of your project, as well as a rationale for feasibility and accountability. In particular, you will investigate both research methodologies and project-based methods to substantiate the framework and structure of the work. This module allows you to develop your own Major Project idea, providing you with the tools for planning, research methodologies, and grounding you in scholarly practice. The module will be underpinned by theoretical perspectives in creative media in order to address research questions or problems. Module 2 Name: Professional Development Scheme Description: The aims of this module are to enable you to gain new theoretical knowledge and practical skills in your specialist discipline to successfully complete your Creative Media Major Project and to better prepare you for lifelong learning and a successful career in the creative media industries. You will work with your Learning Advisor to reflect and identify gaps in your skills and knowledge which will be needed to complete the programme. A bespoke set of projects and learning activities will then be scheduled for you to address these gaps, ensuring that you also meet the required learning outcomes, which you will be required to evidence by critical contextualisation of your learning within the broader frame of your professional practice. Module 3 Name: Creative Media Project (MA/MSc) Description: The aims of this module are to enable you to exercise your knowledge and full gamut of technical, creative and scholarly skills and abilities in a substantial and original work worthy of dissemination. The project will reflect your innovative approaches to solving problems and demonstrate technical mastery of your chosen medium. The module also aims to help you to develop a sophisticated and deeply personal understanding of your individual creative processes by conducting ongoing reflective investigations. The project will reflect this and also reflect an understanding of the context in which your work sits within a broader community of practice of the arts/science.
