Course summary
This degree is similar to our four-year BA Modern Languages course, but does not include a year abroad. The three-year degree is aimed at students who are unable to spend a year abroad because of special circumstances – contact [email protected] to find out more. You’ll choose to study up to three of our core languages: French, German, Italian, Spanish These languages are offered at intermediate and advanced level. Other languages Our programme also allows you to combine up to two core languages with one or two of our additional languages. Choose from: Arabic, British Sign Language, Chinese (Mandarin), Modern Greek, Japanese, Russian Your study options include:

Modules
The following modules have been approved in principle for delivery in 2025/26. Please note that as part of our current curriculum improvement process, all modules require final University approval and may be subject to change. Core modules on this course: Language modules in French, German, Italian and/or Spanish, depending on your chosen core language(s). The University cannot guarantee that all optional modules will be available to all students who may wish to take them.
