Course summary

The MSc Cyber Security programme is a taught postgraduate conversion course which will provide you with the skill sets necessary to work or study across a wide range of real-world domains where security is paramount. Cyber security is multi-disciplinary and incorporates elements of computer science, psychology, information management, strategy and policy. You will learn how organisations, systems and people can be subverted for malicious purposes and learn how to think like a malicious actor, for only then will you be able to develop effective and practical countermeasures. Technical topics have a strong practical element and include digital forensics, applied cryptography and network security, balanced by coverage of Social Engineering, strategic cyber security and topics on intrusion detection, prevention and recovery, and early modules build the foundational skills required for later topics. The programme is suitable for students from non-STEM and STEM backgrounds.
