Course summary
The education and training of Business teachers is a long-established feature of UWTSD and the university is the main provider of Business teachers in Wales. As such, we are privileged to enjoy an enviable reputation in the sector. The course incorporates the most recent innovations and thinking in Business Studies teaching. The Business Studies Pathway provides engaging and relevant professional training that enables you to: transform your Business Studies expertise into competent and effective classroom teaching; develop an understanding of how pupils learn Business subjects; critically evaluate and enhance your teaching to improve quality and effectiveness in the classroom. The new curriculum suggests that a key purpose of the curriculum is for learners to be ‘enterprising and creative contributors’. Our PGCE recognises that Business teachers have a part to play in developing learners who can take calculated risks, think creatively, and identify and grasp opportunities through inspirational teaching and making connections between the business world and education. The Business Studies course has strong links with the professional Business Studies teaching networks and guest speakers include subject officers from the WJEC as well as key representatives from Welsh Government initiatives. We are pleased to have strong links with the University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s Swansea Business School where the ‘Big Business Bonanza’ provides PGCE Business students with an annual opportunity to deliver innovative and exciting workshops to Year 10 pupils who have opted to do Business. Come and join us to help shape the next chapter in Business education!
