Overview This course is for those with overseas dental qualifications who have been recommended to study local anaesthesia by the GDC. If you're looking to broaden your dental skills, this Local Dental Anaesthesia short course will help you to specialise in the field. You'll learn how to safely deliver local anaesthetic to patients, and reflect on working in a primary care environment in the UK. Learning on this course includes clinical activity and the provision of care to patients within the Dental Academy. As well as providing specialist skills in the application of local anaesthetic in a dental setting, completion of this course will help you to achieve the GDC learning outcomes for registration as a Dental Hygienist in the UK, enabling you to register with the General Dental Council (GDC) and move into employment. Assessment method
Assessment consists of an unseen written exam and completion of a logbook will detail the successful completion of the relevant GDC identified competences.

An existing Dental Hygiene qualification from a country outside of the UK. The documented GDC learning outcome requirements following the GDC Dental Care Professional assessment. All applicants will be invited to attend an interview. Applicants must pass Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and Occupational Health checks before starting the course.
