Assessment method

Student progress on the BTEC Higher Nationals in Dance (2025) is monitored through a combination of formative and summative assessments designed to measure practical and theoretical development throughout the course. Students complete assignment-based assessments for each unit, which may include performances, workshops, reflective journals, and written evaluations, all aligned to clear grading criteria (Pass, Merit, Distinction). Tutors provide ongoing formative feedback during rehearsals and class activities to support improvement before final submission. Each assignment is internally verified to ensure consistency and fairness, and student progress is tracked through assessment records, deadlines, and credit accumulation. This structured approach ensures that both creative performance skills and academic understanding are continuously monitored and developed across the programme.
