Course summary

We are a multidisciplinary team of scientists conducting experimental and clinical research of international impact and with a diverse range of specialties, including in areas of molecular, cellular and systems levels, cognitive and behavioural, clinical and computational neuroscience. We work closely with academics and healthcare professionals across local and international networks, along with patients and public involvement groups, and industrial and policy partners, to apply neuroscience knowledge in clinical settings. From cell-based research to multimodal neuroimaging and precision medicine, our clinical neuroscience research encompasses diverse experimental and clinical tools and treatment modalities. Course content Core research themes/topics: Multiple Sclerosis molecular and cellular biology headache traumatic brain injury peripheral neuropathy stroke brain cancer hearing and listening tinnitus and hyperacusis auditory measurements and assessments hearing aid development and evaluation, including hearing-aids and cochlear implants chronic pain mood disorders neurodegenerative disorders psychosis Our methodological expertise includes: phenotyping biomarker discovery cell-based and cell-free therapeutics experimental models of human disease cognitive screening and rehabilitation observational clinical studies clinical trials: drugs, devices, biologics, cells neuroimaging (ultra-high field and clinical MRI and MEG) multimodal neuroimaging acquisition and analysis brain connectomics neuromodulation precision medicine quantitative and qualitative research methods systematic reviews/meta-analyses


Entry requirements

2.2 (or equivalent) degree in a relevant subject and two references including at least one academic reference. If you have contacted a supervisor and they have informally agreed to supervise you, please provide us with a personal statement as part of the online application form. This should cover your reasons for applying, why you are interested in the programme, your previous subject and work experience and your future aspirations. If you have not contacted a supervisor before completing the online application form, please submit a personal statement and a research proposal.
