Our BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science with Foundation Year offers a structured pathway into the BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science degree. Year 0 All students studying on a Foundation course will take the following core units: Human Sciences I (20 credits) Introduction to Healthcare (20 credits) Personal and Professional Development (20 credits) Human Sciences II (20 credits) Gateway Extended Project (20 credits). Pathway Unit Foundations in Sport Performance and Rehabilitation (20 credits) Year 1 Introduction to Research Methods Sport and Exercise Science in Practice Multidisciplinary Approaches in Elite Sport Anatomy and Physiology Kinesiology Psychology of Exercise Year 2 Research methods Contemporary Issues in Sport and Exercise Science Physiology of Sport and Exercise Biomechanics and Skill Acquisition Psychology of Sport and Performance Case based learning in a sport and exercise domain Year 3/ Year 4 Dissertation Professional Development Perspectives in Sport and Exercise Science (theory) Perspectives in Sport and Exercise Science (applied) Health Through the Lifespan You also have the option to take this course as a four-year sandwich programme, which includes a year of practical work experience alongside your academic study. Degree-related work placements, such as with a sports team, research setting, or exercise service, enable students to gain valuable experience.

To meet the minimum English Language requirements of the programme, applicants will need to achieve an overall IELTS score of 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in each section.

UCAS Tariff - 64 - 100 points
Applicants should normally hold 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above (C) including English and Maths. Key Skills/Functional Skills Level 2 in Communication and Application of Number can be accepted in place of English and Maths GCSE. However, applications will be viewed holistically and in line with our contextual admissions process. For mature or non-traditional applicants’ consideration will be given to individual circumstances.
