The Pearson BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Electrical and Electronics Engineering offers students a broad introduction to the study of Electrical and Electronics theories and applications via a mandatory core of learning, while allowing for the acquisition of some sector-specific skills and experience through the specialist units. This effectively builds underpinning core skills while preparing the student for more intense subject specialisation at Level 5. Students will gain a wide range of sector knowledge tied to practical skills gained in research, self-study, directed study and workplace activities. This effectively builds underpinning core skills while preparing the student for more intense subject specialisation at Level 5. Students will gain a wide range of sector knowledge tied to practical skills gained in research, self-study, directed study and workplace activities. For the Electrical and Electronic Engineering pathway, students take the four mandatory core units, one specialist unit and three additional optional units.

UCAS Tariff - 48 points
Pearson BTEC Diploma (QCF) - MP
Successful completion of a full BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Engineering, with a minimum of two units with Merit grades, one of which must be a Maths unit, or 48 UCAS points from two appropriate full A Levels one of which must be Maths at a minimum of grade C. As the HNC demands significant analytical skills, all applicants will be required to have a formal interview and complete a diagnostic test to confirm that their Maths base is sufficient to be developed to Level 4. Additionally all students must have Maths and English at GCSE grade C/4 (or Level 2 equivalent).
