Course summary
This Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Solutions provides a strong foundation in AI principles, intelligent systems, and digital technologies. The programme is designed for forward-thinking individuals aiming to enter or progress within the rapidly evolving AI sector. The programme combines theoretical knowledge with robust practical application, preparing students for roles in AI development, data analysis, and intelligent automation. The Higher National Certificate in Digital Technologies (AI Solutions and Applications) supports further, higher-level study with a direct route into a Higher National Diploma in Digital Technologies (AI Solutions and Applications) or, can be exercised as a stepping-stone towards alternative degree-level study in AI, Data Science or Computing. NB: All Higher Technical Qualifications are mapped to occupational standards.

Modules
This course includes the following core modules at level 4 which all students complete: · Unit 1: Professional Practice in the Digital Economy · Unit 2: Innovation & Digital Transformation · Unit 3: Cyber Security · Unit 4: Programming · Unit 5: Big Data & Visualisation · Unit 7: Cloud Fundamentals · Unit 11: Software Development Lifecycles · Unit 15: Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence & Intelligent Systems Each unit of study carries a 15-credit weighting. NB: Occasional changes to modules and course content may take place. Students will be notified when applicable
Assessment method
All Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs) have a practical focus in delivery that compliments the theoretical underpinnings of study in digital technologies. Students can expect to experience a timetabled schedule of theory-led lectures/seminars alongside practical, assessment and employability workshops that prepare them for industry. All students also receive timetabled tutorial support alongside the formal curriculum to support their attainment. Assessment methods are varied to ensure holistic assessment is achieved in Higher Technical Qualifications.
