Electronic and Computer Engineering with a Year Abroad at University of Nottingham - UCAS

Course summary

In a world filled with smart devices with a global need to create green energy, our course provides a detailed insight into the computing systems and software needed to advance all technology. A lot of the things you learn will be done in labs through both working individually and group projects. You'll study subjects such as analogue and digital electronics, circuits and systems, computing, communications and the application of electrical energy. Our course will give you the required engineering expertise for a career in engineering or in a variety of other professions. During your second year, you can study at either our China or Malaysia campus where you will have the opportunity to experience differing cultures. The curriculum is exactly the same as that of the UK and all teaching is in English. Your year will be spent studying core modules, and depending on the subject specialisms you have selected, appropriate optional modules. All undergraduate students in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering initially follow a common programme of study, allowing them to change to a different plan up until the end of their third semester in year two. It is also possible to add or remove a year abroad and year in industry after joining the course. By year three, you can choose to specialise in the topics that interest you and suit your career aspirations. Why choose this course?

  • 10th in the UK for electrical and electronic engineering (The Guardian University Guide 2025) and 9th in the UK for electrical and electronic engineering (The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025)
  • Accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology
  • Practical lab-based sessions to help you develop skills for your future career
  • Customise your degree to suit your interests with a wide selection of optional modules
