Today's digital world is entirely dependent on computer software. Everyday activities, such as communicating through social media or booking tickets, depend on well-designed and well-developed software that powers information systems. Entire industry sectors, from manufacturing and construction to healthcare and finance, have been transformed through software engineering. This course aims to put you at the forefront of the discipline by developing your skills and knowledge across all phases of the software process, meaning your career options are extensive and your earning potential is vast, allowing you to create the life you want in the future. Why Study Software Engineering MEng at University of Huddersfield? This is an integrated Master’s version of the Software Engineering BSc(Hons) course. This MEng course has been designed to build on our BSc(Hons) degree and provide you with a deeper specialist knowledge of software engineering, preparing you for potentially exciting careers including software engineer, server and storage analyst, and senior developer. This MEng course offers many opportunities for project work and developing pieces of working software. You’ll be able to participate in an optional supervised work placement in your area of interest, boosting your employability at the same time. You’ll also explore contemporary methods and techniques in software development on this course. Professional Bodies This course is fully accredited by the British Computer Society (BCS), the Chartered Institute for IT and by completing it, you’ll have fulfilled the academic requirements for registration as a Chartered IT Professional and for achieving Chartered Engineer status. Assessment method
You’ll be taught through a combination of lectures, tutorials, seminars, workshops, and practical sessions. The course emphasis is on the development of sound practical skills, alongside an understanding of theory. Assessment is varied and includes primarily coursework, quizzes, in-class tests, presentations, and demonstrations. There are opportunities for group working, in addition to individual assessments. Your module specification documents will provide full details of the assessment criteria applying to the modules in your course.
