You'll combine your creativity and enthusiasm for fashion with core business and management skills on this Fashion Marketing and Management course. Our focus is to develop your academic, practical, and aesthetic skills, in preparation for a marketing or business career within the fashion industry. In addition, you'll have the opportunity to grow as a creative thinker, and develop your skillset and understanding of the wider global environment that supports the digital expansion of brands today. More about the Professional Placement Year A Professional Placement Year (PPY), traditionally known as a sandwich year, is where you undertake a period of work with an external organisation for between 9-13 months. The placement occurs between your second and final years of undergraduate study. You can engage in multiple placements to make up the total time and are required to source the placement(s) yourself, with support from the Careers team.

Modules

Year one: you'll be introduced to the broader business and cultural environments that link and inform the fashion industry. You'll start to develop your digital skillset and understanding, and explore how fashion brands communicate. Year two: to accompany the core fashion modules, you'll have the opportunity to choose four modules that support your own career goals, allowing you to focus on media creation, business management, fashion in context, or a mix of all three. In the second semester, you'll have the opportunity to connect with and explore the brand of your choice, giving you an insight into how a business functions, and allowing you to develop your understanding of an employer's needs. Final year: your final year allows you to focus on projects that support exploration and development relating to the sector of the fashion industry that you would most like to work in.

Assessment method

You'll be assessed through a variety of projects, exams, presentations, and reflective pieces. You'll be taught through weekly lectures, seminars, and workshops. Group projects, independent research, open discussion, guided readings, guest speakers, live projects, and individual submissions will enhance your learning.
