Course summary

The Raindance International Degree Program in Filmmaking is a unique course, designed to give our students the opportunity to experience Filmmaking across 2 continents and achieve a full UK university degree at the end of the third year. Starting your journey in London (or online), where we will prepare you for international studies and the pathway of your choice. You will then spend eight months at our London campus where you will build a solid foundation in your chosen pathway. At the end of your first year, you will achieve a level 4 certificate. During year 2, you will travel to Guadalajara, Mexico where you will spend the next eight months to further develop your skills and will have the opportunity to work on real film projects in Spanish or in English. At the end of year 2, you will achieve a level 5 Diploma. In your final year, you will return to London to join the Top-Up BA (Hon’s) in Film and Performing Arts Practices. This is a practical, hands-on course that builds upon the skills you developed in your previous years.

Modules

ear 1: Foundation All students study common modules in their first year to build the foundation of the study programme Modules: Individual Project (Pearson-set) Creative Media Industry Professional Practice Film & Television Practices Film Studies Light & Sound Film & Video Editing Script Writing for Film & Television Year 2: Specialisation In the second year, students start to specialise in specific areas of filmmaking, developing their skills further and working in teams on industry-style projects. Modules: Collaborative Project (Pearson-set) Personal Professional Development Advanced Film & Television Studies Drama Documentary Directing Marketing & Promotion Audio Techniques Year 3 In the final year, students can choose one (double) or two (single) specialist pathways in either Acting, Directing or Screenwriting. All students will produce their own film projects and develop advanced skills in film and television practices. Assessment is via practical creative projects, written reflective reports of your work and research assignments. Modules: Critical Research (15 Credits) Specialist Negotiated Practical Project (45 Credits) Film & TV Business Practices (15 Credits) Film Practices Final Project (45 Credits)

Assessment method

Assessment is through a series of assignments including research modules, hands-on practical exercises and group projects. Units are interlinked to replicate “real world” scenarios and offer the opportunity for students to build a range of skills to maximise employment opportunities.
