Course summary
Employers are under great pressure, quite properly, to reduce their environmental impact. Many 'green' technologies are available but not all of these work well in all circumstances, some worsen environmental outcomes if used inappropriately and all have cost implications. There is a desperate shortage of people skilled in deciding which technologies to deploy where, when and how to achieve genuine environmental benefits as economically as possible. This innovative programme provides the knowledge and skills to understand which 'green' technologies provide real environmental benefits and also to make judgements about the economic viability of their introduction. In its second year, this course focuses in on sustainability in industry, covering areas including the environmental impact of raw materials used, industrial processes, consumer behaviour and end-of-life product dispsosal.
