Course summary
This course is based on a strong interdisciplinary and applied focus and established links to industry, national and local government and agencies and professional accrediting bodies (Institute of Environmental Sciences, Chartered Institute of Environmental Health); it develops the business and advanced technical skills required of environmental consultants; much of the course is undertaken as workplace based learning so it is especially suitable for those in employment.
Modules
Environmental business skills; professional practice in environmental sciences; dissertation; sustainable technologies; environmental assessment; introduction to applied GIS; water management challenges for the 21st century; catchment hydrology; catchment management; water policy and law; sustainable development: principles and practice; spatial analytical methods; waste management and contaminated land; air quality management.
Assessment method
We assess through coursework, project work - including group work and exams. You may also be assessed through viva voce.

Entry requirements
We normally require an honours degree of 2:2 or above. This course is generally suitable for graduates of degrees from any academic background, but particularly social sciences, physical sciences, environmental studies, geography, planning and engineering. If you do not meet the above grade requirements but have at least 12 months relevant professional experience and/or equivalent qualifications, we will consider you on an individual basis.
English language requirements
International and EU applicants are required to have a minimum overall IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 with 5.5 in each component (or approved equivalent*). *The University accepts a large number of UK and international qualifications in place of IELTS.
