Course summary
The foundation year will introduce you to study at university and your chosen subject. It also provides a highly supportive environment where you can develop your self-confidence. Animal welfare laws in Britain have meant that there is now more control and regulation of all animal-based enterprises. This has resulted in a greater need for a scientific approach to animal management and welfare across all businesses that work with animals. You’ll develop the skills to collect and analyse scientific data independently as you research topics of your own choice, often with specific employment goals in mind. You'll explore animal biochemistry, physiology and welfare in depth, investigate the diversity of life, animal pests and diseases, such as cancer, and study animal reproduction and development in detail. In addition to lectures, seminars and workshops, you’ll complete intensive practical weeks to accelerate your knowledge, and create a CV that will evidence your experience to employers.
