Course summary

This comprehensive course is designed to provide you with the specialist knowledge and skills needed to excel as a human resource (HR) professional, while also exploring the critical relationship between the organisation, managers and the workforce, and the role of HR. Throughout the course you'll be supported to think critically, identify and analyse HR and organisational problems and evaluate potential solutions to real-world issues. You will gain a thorough grounding in the theory and practice of managing people in order to drive change in organisations, adapt to change, manage people and evolve their skills to shifting organisational and labour market trends. You'll explore how these elements contribute to the overall success of an organisation. In addition you'll develop the ability to critically evaluate HR theories and practices and learn how to apply evidence-based thinking to real-world HR challenges. You'll also develop practical transferable skills, enhancing your oral and written communication, problem-solving abilities and teamwork skills. Our course is designed to prepare you for a successful career in HR management and training with hands-on projects that mirror real-world scenarios. During the course you will be empowered with the expertise, knowledge and skills needed to pursue a career in HR. Our course is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) - the professional body for HR and people development, which further ensures the knowledge and skills acquired by our graduates align with the expectations of the profession and the profession map. You'll also have the opportunity to gain a Level 7 CIPD qualification at the same time as studying your MSc Human Resource Management and Training (subject to paying student membership costs to CIPD). Assessment method

You will be assessed during each module by a variety of coursework assignments. Assessment methods are varied to allow you to develop a range of academic and transferable skills throughout your course, including individual essays, online timed assessments, presentations and group activities. For those enrolled on the Master's degree, your final piece of assessed work is a 10,000 word dissertation.


Entry requirements

A good UK honours degree or its equivalent, or a postgraduate diploma from a recognised institution, or a relevant graduate level professional qualification. English Language Requirements: IELTS 6.5 or equivalent. If your first language is not English, you may need to provide evidence of your English language ability. If you do not yet meet our requirements, our English Language Teaching Unit (ELTU) offers a range of courses to help you to improve your English to the necessary standard.
