Course summary
This programme focuses on important changes to the contemporary urban condition and investigates how architectural intelligence can help us understand and respond to these trends. The programme agenda is balanced between cross-disciplinary research and design applications, with student work divided across three areas: design workshops; lectures and seminars; and a written thesis (MA) or design thesis (MArch), allowing students to develop an extended and focused study within the broader themes of the course.
Modules
Modules include: Design workshop; cities in a transnational world; the reason of urbanism; critical urbanism; shaping the modern city; housing and the informal city; domesticity; thesis.
Assessment method
Assessment includes the thesis.
Qualified teacher status (QTS)
To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:

Entry requirements
Academic Entry Require - Five-year professional architectural degree (BArch/Diploma equivalent) from a United Kingdom university or a relevant five-year professional degree e.g. BEng in Architecture, or a BArch degree plus diploma of equivalent standard from a recognised university or higher education institution outside the UK. English Language Entry Requirement - Students whose first language is not English require IELTS 6.5 or equivalent (with a minimum 6.0 in each component).
