Course summary

The Honours Degree in Golf Coaching and Performance has been designed to develop suitably trained and qualified graduates to gain rewarding and exciting careers in the golf industry. It is an intellectually stimulating course, with a strong practical focus enabling students to develop their practical skills, academic knowledge, sports science support and coaching experience. Additionally the programme offers students a wonderful insight into the performance elements of elite golf. The course provides students with a plethora of sports science and golf coaching concepts that will relate to game improvement. This will equip them with a holistic understanding of golf performance, which they can adopt as part of their own and fellow golfers’ performance development.

Year 1 - Academic and Professional Skills; Sports Performance (double module); Coaching Principles and Practice; Introduction to Sports Psychology; Introduction to Biomechanics and Physiology. Year 2 - Talent Identification and Sport Development; Research Development; Sports Performance Analysis; Training and Conditioning for Sport Performance; Industry Project; Coaching for Sport Performance. Year 3 - Coaching Specific Golf Groups; High Performance Coaching for Golf; High Performance Conditioning for Golf; Golf Research (Double) Project (double module); Golf Industry Consultancy.

Qualification requirements

Normally 5 GCSEs Including Maths and English (or equivalents) are required, however, applicants are advised to check with the University Centre if they do not possess the specific qualifications. The University Centre may consider applicants with work experience within a relevant industry in place of some qualifications. Applicants who believe they may be eligible for Accreditation of Prior Certificated and/or Experiential Learning (APCL/APEL) will be considered on an individual basis.
