Corporate Governance & Accountability will give you a theoretical and practical understanding of corporate governance and accountability, together with an international perspective on some of the most important issues facing global business and society today. WHY THIS PROGRAMME

  • Good corporate governance promotes fairness in the economy and is essential in modern society. This programme will teach you about the main principles of finance and governance, the relationship between state, society and business and also aspects of business law, management and ethics.
  • You will gain a detailed understanding of why corporate governance has become important, what the challenges are to enforce it and how it has changed over time.
  • You will develop a good understanding of best practice in accounting and by the end of the programme have an ability to critically challenge accounting practices through a case study approach.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE You will take three core and three optional courses and write a dissertation on an accounting and governance related theme. Core Courses DISSERTATION AND RESEARCH METHODS FOUNDATIONS OF INTERNATIONAL CORPORATE FINANCE INTERNATIONAL CORPORATE GOVERNANCE & ACCOUNTABILITY MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING AND CONTROL Optional Courses may include: ACCOUNTING & BUSINESS ETHICS AUDIT, RISK AND CONTROL FINANCIAL ANALYSIS AND EQUITY VALUATION ISSUES IN INTERNATIONAL CORPORATE TAXATION PUBLIC SECTOR FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ACCOUNTING

International applicants

As there is extremely high demand for places on this degree programme, the University has established an application process with six application rounds which recognises that different geographical areas complete and submit their applications at different times of the year. This process aims to ensure fairness and equity to applicants from all geographies.

Entry requirements

2.1 Honours degree or non-UK equivalent in any subject, however some prior studies in the area of accounting and finance is desirable. Only applications that meet or exceed our stated entry requirements will go forward for consideration. Any application that does not will be automatically rejected. Applicants will be made offers based on their relative performance compared to other applicants, taking into account both current GPA, or degree classification, and the relevance of an applicant’s academic background. Please note, applications that meet our minimum entry requirements may still be rejected, based on its score in comparison to other applications received during the same round.
