Course summary
The BA (Hons) Primary Education with QTS degree is a three-year undergraduate course that leads to the award of an honours degree and qualified teacher status. This degree can also be partly studied through the medium of Welsh. The course aims to prepare student teachers to be highly-skilled, confident, critically reflective and innovative practitioners who are committed to life-long professional learning and the education of young people. Graduates will develop the values and dispositions that will enable them to be highly employable and ready to meet the demands of the classroom. Distinctive features of the Degree include: •University and school experiences that train student teachers to teach the Curriculum for Wales across the 3-11 age range •Research-informed clinical practice where structured opportunities enable student teachers to use theory to interrogate practice and vice versa. •A supportive and collaborative culture of learning •School-led training days led by schools identified as leading providers of education and professional development •A commitment to the development of Welsh language skills of all student teachers based on their individual experience and needs Please note entry requirements are subject to change for 2025 entry If you would like to study this degree through the medium of Welsh please apply using the UCAS Application Code X121. Interview
Applicants who meet the essential criteria for courses which lead to QTS at Cardiff Metropolitan will be required to sit Pre Entry tests in Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Competence. Tests will be completed and supervised under 'exam' conditions. The tests will be undertaken as part of the interview day. Applicants with additional needs who are requested to sit these tests will need to notify Cardiff Metropolitan University immediately so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Recent and relevant experience in a mainstream school across the primary age range. This should be for a minimum of five days and taken place within the 12 months prior to attending interview. Evidence of this MUST be included on the UCAS application. Please include details within the personal statement.
